Alaskan Donor to the Other Dan Sullivan Scoffs at FBI Agent’s Visit: ‘Let Him Waste His Time’

A man who donated $500 to Daniel J. Sullivan’s Senate campaign in Alaska — and who said he’s known the neophyte political candidate for years — told the Associated Press he’s gotten a visit from the FBI.

Charles Flint owns a boat dealership in the remote community of Petersburg, a town in the southern portion of the state that can only be reached by air or water and a town where Sullivan, a teacher, lives.

Sullivan has become a lightning rod after The New York Times revealed those with Alaskan Senate candidate Mary Peltola’s campaign (D) allegedly sought to recruit people named Dan Sullivan to run for the office — the same name of the Republican incumbent, Dan S. Sullivan, whom Peltola is trying to unseat.

Peltola has repeatedly denied wrongdoing. In a highly unusual move, President Donald Trump ordered the Justice Department to sue in a bid to prevent Peltola being certified if she wins and the DOJ has launched a criminal investigation.

Flint told the AP he was out of town when an FBI agent showed up at his business Friday and spoke with his son, asking if he felt he had been “misled” by his neighbor.

“I don’t feel like I’ve been misled at all,” Flint told the AP.

He said he wasn’t going to return the FBI’s message.

“Let him waste his time trying to track me down,” he said before adding, “I don’t think there’s any confusion. Everybody knows who the incumbent is.”

Flint told the news organization he intended to put Peltola, 53, first on his ranked choice ballot, and his fellow Petersburg resident second.

Daniel J. Sullivan did not immediately return Mediaite’s message seeking comment.

Those objecting to the federal government’s response have said Dan S. Sullivan is clearly listed as the incumbent on the ballot.

Trump has said people don’t know what incumbent means.

“You need about a 190 IQ to figure out the ballot,” Trump said during a Friday radio interview. “They put a ballot down where they’re talking about ‘incumbent’ Republican, and the other one. Most people don’t know in Alaska — and a lot of other states, too — what does incumbent mean? I don’t know what incumbent means. Incumbent!”

“I mean, you talk about voter fraud!” Trump said. “Nobody’s ever seen voter fraud like this. This is, this is as bad — It’s the same thing, actually — but it’s as bad as what we went through in 2020 and what we always go through. Because, you know, the whole thing with — it’s such an important thing. We got rigged. We had a rigged election in 2020. We cannot ever let that happen again. Look what happened to our country in four years. Terrible.”
