The PHP ecosystem is much larger than the projects we hear about every day. Behind the familiar frameworks and established platforms, developers are building applications, libraries and tools that solve practical problems in interesting ways.
Some are maintained by small teams. Others begin as personal experiments, tools created for a specific need, or ideas shared with the community in the hope that someone else will find them useful. They may not have large audiences, but they can still have something valuable to teach us.
A closer look at PHP projects
With PHP Project Radar, we are giving these projects a place in PHP Magazine.
The section will explore applications, developer tools, libraries and other solutions built with PHP or designed for its ecosystem. We want to look beyond the project description: what problem does it address, how does it work, who might use it, and what should developers consider before adopting it?
Some projects will be mature; others may still be finding their audience. Our interest is not limited to popularity. A focused tool that solves one problem well can be just as interesting to examine as a larger platform.
What should be on our radar?
That is where you come in. Are you building a PHP project, maintaining a library, or using a tool that deserves a closer look? Have you discovered an application that more developers should know about? We would like to hear from you.
Share your suggestion in the comments or through our contact page. If you are proposing a project, include its name, a link to its repository or website, and a few words about the problem it solves. You are welcome to suggest your own work—just let us know that you are involved.
We cannot promise to cover every suggestion, but each one helps us understand what the community is building and what readers want to explore.
PHP has always been shaped by people who build, share and improve things. PHP Project Radar is an invitation to discover more of their work.
