President Donald Trump immediately approved a visa for a mourning mother from Ghana after her teen son was shot and killed in New York City last week — a decision NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) said Trump agreed to after they spoke on the phone.
Mamdani announced Trump’s move in a Saturday post on X. He said Trump greenlit the visa two days after 15-year-old Javits Frimpong was shot and killed in the Bronx; harrowing security footage of Frimpong running for his life has since been shared by local news outlets and on social media, showing the boy being chased by an attacker donning all black.
“The murder of a child is a pain no parent should have to endure, let alone from thousands of miles away,” Mamdani posted. “Javits Frimpong’s mother deserves to say goodbye to her son in person. I just got off the phone with President Trump and he has greed to grant her visa immediately. All of New York City is mourning this tragedy.”

The teen, who had been on his way to school, then collapsed at East 171 Street and Third Avenue after taking a bullet to the stomach around 9:25 a.m., according to police and law enforcement sources. He was initially listed in stable condition but later succumbed to his injuries.
Frimpong had recently immigrated to the US from Ghana — and was being bullied at 329 The DreamYard Preparatory School, according to his father, Thomas Frimpong, 60, who told the Post he believes it is tied to the slaying.
The principal had called just two days before the murder to tell Thomas Frimpong that his “very quiet” son was being bullied, he said.
Mamdani’s post comes after he and Trump have developed what looks like a fairly warm relationship, despite their polar opposite stances on socialism, illegal immigration, and just about every other political issue.
The two shocked many onlookers when their first White House meeting turned into a lovefest last year, which led to Trump and Mamdani becoming texting buddies. More recently, Trump and the socialist mayor met up again in NYC last month, where Trump said Mamdani has the “potential” to be a “great” leader.
